When you buy the application, you are entitled to all the updates, bug fixes, new levels, and new features. The poor graphic design of this puzzle-style game gets in the way of the gameplay. In Sausages, you're supposed to rotate titles containing the titular meat products to lead a dog away from a monster.

However, because the sausages are arranged in a V shape, it's not clear which end should point where. The in-game instructions don't clarify that point, and the funky font makes them difficult to read anyway.

At least the audio works well enough.

The game features three modes: arcade, arcade blast, and puzzle.

The trial version shuts down the program and opens up the publisher's Web site after each death. Dedicated fans of 2D arcade games might enjoy Sausages.

There are three fun game modes with multiple special items to get you going. You can bomb the monster, burn it with a hot sausage, or blast it with a juicy sausage, but beware, it comes back to life.

Eat as many sausages required to get to the next level. This space shooter might make a good way to kill a few spare minutes, but its repetitive gameplay and mediocre design prevent it from being a truly engrossing game.

If you've ever played an arcade game, chances are you've seen one like Frenesia. You control a spaceship, and your sole goal is to destroy your enemies to earn power-ups and points. One of this program's biggest missteps is you can't play in full-screen mode, making it tough to see both enemy fire and the general action on the screen.

The game's graphics are strictly average, though the music does sound a bit more polished. You can choose to adjust the game's volume, but you won't find other features such as the ability to reconfigure the keyboard.

We also think the five-use trial period is too short to give most people a good idea of whether Frenesia is worth buying.
